My name is Natasha Foreman and I'm a Registered Dietitian based out of Dallas Texas. I obtained my bachelor's degree from Prairie View A&M University and have been a dietitian 9 years working in acute care hospitals, long term acute care hospitals, rehabs, skilled nursing facilities, and nursing homes. During my experience I learned with any nutrition plan or intervention it must be catered to a patient's demographics and cultural preferences. I pride myself on being a black dietitian who seeks to educate on culturally specific foods while also providing evidenced based practice to make long term lifestyle changes. I'm also extremely passionate about community nutrition and eradicating food deserts, which prompted me to obtain my master's degree in public health in 2023. I sit on the board of non profits with missions to create community gardens in underserved communities. My approach is culturally specific and inclusive, while still using evidenced based practices to inspire life-style changes. Natasha Foreman provides consultations primarily in English.

Here are answers to some common questions about receiving Registered Dietitian care with Dr. Foreman:

What is the difference between a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Nutritionist?
Registered Dietitians (RDs or RDNs) have completed a rigorous academic program, including a supervised practice, and passed a national exam. The title "nutritionist" is less regulated and may not indicate the same level of training. RDs are the most qualified professionals for medical nutrition therapy.
Do I need a doctor's referral to see a dietitian?
While you can often see Dr. Foreman for general wellness advice without a referral, a referral from your doctor is frequently required for insurance to cover sessions for a specific medical condition (Medical Nutrition Therapy). It's always best to check with your insurance plan to confirm coverage details.
Can you help me with a specific diet I've heard about, like Keto or intermittent fasting?
Dr. Foreman is knowledgeable about various popular dietary approaches like Keto and intermittent fasting. She can help you understand the potential benefits and risks, and determine if a specific diet is safe and appropriate for your individual health needs and goals. She can also guide you on how to follow it in a healthy, balanced way.
I'm always busy. Can you help me with quick and healthy meal ideas?
Absolutely! A key part of my practice is developing strategies that fit busy lifestyles. Dr. Foreman can provide resources for simple meal prep, ideas for healthy on-the-go snacks, and tips for making smart choices when eating out, ensuring your plan is realistic and sustainable.
I'm interested in a plant-based (vegetarian or vegan) diet. Can you help me do it right?
Many people are exploring plant-based diets. Dr. Foreman can help you plan a balanced and nutritionally complete plant-based diet, ensuring you get enough protein, iron, vitamin B12, and calcium. She can help you meet your goals without compromising your nutritional needs.
How can a dietitian help with my diabetes?
Dr. Foreman can help patients understand carbohydrates, create balanced meal plans to manage blood sugar levels, and develop strategies to reduce the risk of complications, all while working in coordination with their primary doctor or endocrinologist.
What should I expect during my first nutrition consultation?
During your first consultation with Dr. Foreman, expect a comprehensive assessment. She will discuss your health goals, medical history, current eating habits, and lifestyle. This is a non-judgmental, collaborative conversation to gather information for a personalized and realistic plan.
I have IBS and a sensitive stomach. Can nutrition counseling help?
Yes. Nutrition plays a significant role in managing IBS and sensitive stomachs. Dr. Foreman can help identify trigger foods and guide you through an evidence-based approach like the low-FODMAP diet to create a long-term eating plan that reduces symptoms.
